Latest news - 6th EU-Vietnam Interparliamentary Meeting, Hanoi, 19 to 21 June 2023 - Delegation for relations with the countries of Southeast Asia and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN)

The 6th EU-Viet Nam Inter-Parliamentary Meeting (IPM) was held in Ha Noi, Viet Nam, on 19-21 June. The European Parliament Delegation to the IPM was lead by MEP Daniel CASPARY, Chair of the Delegation for relations with Southeast Asia and ASEAN. Matters of common interest were discussed such as Russia's war on Ukraine, the EU- Viet Nam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA), the EU- Viet Nam Investment Protection Agreement (IPA), Illegal, Unreported and Unregulated (IUU) fishing, the EU-Viet Nam Just Energy Partnership, and the EU- Viet Nam Voluntary Partnership Agreement (VPA) on Forest Law Enforcement, Governance and Trade (FLEGT), as well as infrastructure needs of Viet Nam's economy.

The next meeting of the Delegation for relations with Iraq (D-IQ) will take place on Thursday, 6 July 2023, in Brussels, at 14h00-15h00. (CET) in room SPINELLI - SPAAK 4B1
The main issue in the agenda will be an exchange of views on the prospects for economic cooperation and support for foreign direct investments to Iraq with:

· Ms Anna Maria Panagiotakopoulou, Head of the Arabian Peninsula and Iraq division at the European External Action Service (EEAS)

· Ms Sarah Rinaldi, Head of Middle East and Central Asia Unit at DG International Partnerships

Latest news - 3rd EU-UK Parliamentary Partnership Assembly, 3-4 July 2023 (Brussels) - Delegation to the EU-UK Parliamentary Partnership Assembly

The meeting will be organised in two sessions. The first, in the afternoon of Monday 3 July, will be divided in two parts:

- The first part, from 14.00 to 16.45, will take place in plenary and will be devoted to the following issues:

the state of play within the Partnership Council
future of foreign and security policy, including in the framework of the European Political Community

- The second part of the session will be organised around break out groups. Members will meet in three thematic groups:

mobility of persons
climate and energy
twinning and civil society cooperation

The second session, on Tuesday 4 July, will take place in plenary. It will start with the address by the President of the European Parliament. Then, Members will exchange views on the following topics:

EU-UK common efforts to support Ukraine and sanctions. A recommendation on this topic will be submitted to the assembly for adoption
cooperation on trade and industrial policy, including the response to the US Inflation Reduction Act

Latest news - DLAT Meeting of 26 June 2023 - Delegation to the Euro-Latin American Parliamentary Assembly

The last meeting of the Delegation to the Euro-Latin American Parliamentary Assembly (DLAT) took place on 26 June 2023 and was dedicated to the preparation the 15th EuroLat plenary session to take place in Madrid from 24-27 July 2023 and the Preparation of the Message by the Co-Chairs to the EU-CELAC Summit, taking place in Brussels (Belgium) from 17-18 July 2023.

It also included an Exchange of views on the conclusions of the XXVIII Ibero-American Summit of Heads of State and Government that had taken on 25 March 2023, in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, with the participation of Andres Allamand, Secretary-General of the Ibero-American General Secretariat (SEGIB www.segib.org).

Latest news - 86th EU-US Inter-Parliamentary Meeting, 16-17 June 2023, Stockholm, Sweden - Delegation for relations with the United States

The 86th Inter-Parliamentary Meeting (IPM) of the Transatlantic Legislators' Dialogue (TLD) took place on 16 and 17 June 2023 at the Swedish Parliament - Riksdag, in Stockholm.

During the meetings, seven Members of the European Parliament - led by MEP Radosław Sikorski (EPP - Poland), Chair of the European Parliament Delegation for relations with the United States and EU Co-Chair of the TLD - and ten Members of the US House of Representatives - led by Congressman Nathaniel Moran (Republican, Texas), the US Co-Chair of the TLD - heard from numerous experts and had lively discussions on transatlantic cooperation in the following areas: support to Ukraine, sanctions, security and stability in the Indo-Pacific, trade and technology, NATO enlargement and EU-NATO cooperation.

The meeting was officially opened by Dr. Andreas Norlén, Speaker of the Swedish Parliament and featured the participation of Members of the Riksdag's Committee on Foreign Affairs, led by their Chair, Mr. Aron Emilsson. The IPM also saw the participation of State Secretaries and other officials from the Swedish Government and senior officials from the European Commission, the European External Action Service, NATO and experts from Swedish think tanks.

At the end of the meeting, the TLD Co-Chairs, Messrs. Sikorski and Moran, together with the Vice-Chair of the European Parliament Delegation for relations with the United States, MEP Miapetra Kumpula-Natri (S&D - Finland) and US Ranking Member Rep. Jim Costa (Democrat, California), signed a Joint Statement outlining the conclusions from their discussion and setting the scope for their future dialogues.

The 87th IPM/TLD is expected to take place in the United States in December 2023.

From 14 to 18 May, the Delegation for relations with the Federative Republic of Brazil (D-BR) went on a mission to Brasilia and São Paulo (Brazil).

Members met with representatives of the executive and the legislative, as well as with civil society organisations, social partners and think tanks. Main topics of the visit were the EU-Mercosur Association Agreement, Deforestation in the Amazon and Climate Policy, Russia's war against Ukraine and EU-Brazil economic and scientific cooperation.

The D-PAP meeting was held on 10 May from 13:30 to 14:30 in Strasbourg (room: DE MADARIAGA S5). This meeting replaced the meeting previously scheduled for 4 May. The meeting focused on the discussion and preparation of the EP-PAP Interparliamentary meeting (scheduled for the week of 17-19 May in Midrand, South Africa). In the meeting DPAP Members decided to postpone the IPM to a later date (to be determined).
